We are thrilled to begin our Masterclass Series 2015 with Levon Chilingirian!

On Sunday 25 January 2015, Levon Chilingirian will be visiting the Edward Said National Conservatory of Music for a week of intensive classes, rehearsals and concerts with students and teachers from ESNCM’s Ramallah, Bethlehem, Jerusalem and Nablus branches.

Levon Chilingirian is a world-class violinist, currently a professor of violin at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama (London), the Royal Northern College of Music (Manchester), and the Royal Academy of Music (London).  He gives master classes regularly at Longy School of Music (Cambridge, MA), the New England Conservatory (Boston) and the Boston Conservatory of Music.

Mr. Chilingirian also performs as a soloist, in recitals and concerto appearances with numerous orchestras, and with other chamber music partners. He has received the Cobbett Medal and, in January 2000, an OBE in the Queen’s Honours List.

Levon is also the founder of the celebrated Chilingirian String quarter which was founded in 1971 and is highly regarded internationally for its wide-ranging repertoire spanning from classical to contemporary works.

We are honored that Levon has accepted our invitation to hold Masterclasses in Palestine as it will be a unique opportunity for our Palestinian students to learn skills and techniques from a distinguished Maestro, to develop their musicianship and expand their horizons.

Over the next few months and as part of our Masterclass Series, we are sending a number of leading musicians to the ESNCM with the aim to explore new ways of creative collaboration and exchange between Palestine and the United Kingdom.
