The Friends of the Edward Said National Conservatory of Music UK sadly announce that Maya Khaldi will not be studying at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama this academic year 2014/5.

Regrettably, in September 2014 Maya was refused a UK Visa and her offer was deferred to the next academic year 2015/6. The Friends have now made all the arrangements with the University and Maya will start her Master’s course in September 2015.

Following her BA in Music Education at Berklee College of Music, Maya Khaldi, an ambitious teacher and musician, has been teaching theory and choir at the ESNCM for the last three years. She was accepted into the Guildhall School of Music and Drama for the MMus Program in Artistic Leadership and, upon completion of her studies, she has agreed to return back to teaching at the ESNCM.

The Friends of the ESNCM have undertaken to finance Maya’s studies as this is in line with our aims to help young Palestinians musicians broaden their knowledge, to establish links between the ESNCM and UK Music Institutions and to enhance the local expertise of teachers in Palestine.

We are grateful to all our supporters who helped us towards the funding of Maya’s degree and we are looking forward to welcoming her to London next year.
