TELEMANN UNFURLING

Concerts - Wotton, Watchet, London, Bristol and Abergavenny

International flautist Nicola Woodward (and PalMusic committee member) presents a tour of concerts to raise funds for our initative training teachers and former-students to take music to children in camps and other desperate situations across Palestine.

Nicola’s recording of the Fantasies by Telemann is imminent and so is a tour of these fascinating works for solo flute - this is extraordinary music that just keeps on giving! Telemann was a survivor of tragedy, a prolific composer, an innovator, a traveller and a pioneer of music printing techniques and composer's rights. In his day he was considered to be on a par with the great J.S. Bach. He left us 12 Fantasies demonstrating the 12 keys best suited to the contemporary flute of his day (the baroque flute) as a demonstration of just what the flute could do on a technical and emotional level. Wonderful music! Do join Nicola on the first leg of her tour:
