Wind Masterclass between 2 and 7 April 2015 at the Edward Said National Conservatory of Music:

On 2 April 2015 clarinettist Joan Lluna will visit Palestine for a Masterclass initiated by the Friends of ESNCM UK to further develop the Wind Department of the Edward Said National Conservatory of Music.

The ESNCM’s wind department is a developing department which has been growing in size and strength in the last few years. It is dominated by flutes and clarinets, but there is also a number of classical saxophones and a growing brass department. The current wind orchestra has around 50 students in it from beginner to advanced levels. In March 2015, the first wind quintet was developed and Joan will focus on the training and coaching of this new ensemble.

Joan will give intensive lessons to beginners and advanced students and will coach chamber music ensembles at the Conservatory’s branches in Jerusalem, Ramallah and Bethlehem. There will also be group discussions and teacher training workshops and his visit will culminate in a public recital in Ramallah with Maddalena Falda on piano.
