Instrument Repair Workshop
- Description of the Project:In May 2013, the Conservatory opened a repair workshop for string instruments (both Arabic and Western instruments: oud, qanoun, buzuq, violin, viola, cello and double bass). The workshop is hosted in the ESNCM’s Bethlehem branch and was made possible through financial aid from Switzerland. It is managed by a graduate of the Conservatory who underwent seven years of specialized training in Italy and Germany. There is an urgent need to broaden this repair work to woodwind and brass instruments. This would entail sending to the Conservatory expert repairers for short visits (one to two weeks), to train one (or more) local repair person for this work.
- Cost: £ 3,000 per visit (travel, accommodation, fees and some basic materials).
